The idea of going down a crazy waterslide is sort of like the prospect of having a kid: kind of nerve-wracking, a little bit gross, but also totally awesome and a thrill you immediately want to experience again after you finally dip your toe into the water. Actually, you can decide if that last bit is true after taking the plunge down some of these flat-out insane looking terror flumes from around the world.


10 – Xpirado


The Xpirado is an innovative, themed attraction, there is no equal in Brazil! Full of suspense, adrenaline and fun, immerses you in a pond full of hungry piranhas and killer. Everything is huge in it! The toy tower is 32 meters high and visitors descend at an average speed of 8.3 meters per second, on a slide of 142 meters long.

9 – Stukas BOOM






At this Italian version of Universal Studios, outside Verona, is yet another trap door speed slide which is named somewhat awkwardly for a water slide, after a German dive bomber from World War II. This slide is found in Caneva Aquapark, Italy.

8 – Jumeirah Sceirah


With two tandem slides, guests first climb the 32 metres tower and enjoy a spectacular view of the entire waterpark. Once on top of the tower, two capsules await for two guests to ride on at the same time. Just like the old Jumeirah Sceirah, guests must cross their arms and legs as the doors of the capsules close, unaware of what awaits them. The feeling of anxiety and anticipation rushes through them as the countdown begins. Before they know it, the floor beneath them opens and both guests slides down the 120 metres slide at an astonishing speed of 80 km/h! In few seconds, guests reach the bottom of the slide with a rush of excitement!

7 – VertiGO



When this water slide opened in Aqualandia last August, it became the tallest free-fall water slide of Europe. Almost equal to the Jumeirah Sceirah, VertiGO releases its unsuspicious victims to the slide through a trap door – though you have a choice between lime green and neon pink slides.

6 – Summit Plummet





Once, Disney World held the title of Guinness Book of World Records for the World’s Tallest Water Slide with this ski jump themed giant slide. This is set at the top of Mount Gushmore in Blizzard Beach. The riders can reach the top speed of 55 mph as they fall down the 360 feet “snow” hill. They have to pass through a tunnel to get into the splash pool below.

5 – Deep Water Dive







This new speed slide at Kentucky Kingdom & Hurricane Bay will help re-launch this Southern amusement park on May 24. With its amazing slope of 70 degree and a drop of 12 stories, the Deep Water Dive stands to be the tallest speed slide in North America.

4 – Spacemaker







This four-person raft slide is situated at Aqualandia Park – Italy, shoots you down a 60-degree slope at the speeds of 62 mph. It can take up to 15 minutes to climb up a spiral staircase of 156 steps to reach the top and takes only three seconds to get back down.

3 – Insano







At Beach Park in Brazil, riders have to climb up 14 stories to enjoy the most desirable views of the park and of the nearby Atlantic Ocean before dropping at 65 mph speed. The speed slide, which lasts only about four to five seconds, held the title of the Guinness Book of World records before Kilimanjaro.

2 – Kilimanjaro





Riders of this slide, achieve the speed of 60 mph as they race on this massive speed slide in the Águas Quentes Country Club. The water slide is so big that designers had to dig part of a hill to accommodate it.  Enjoying this free fall of Kilimanjaro is not easy as you have to climb up 234 steps to reach the top.

1 – Verruckt


  • errückt is a German word which means insane. Recently, it is announced the World’s Largest Water Slide by the Guinness Book of World Records. This slide is opening later this month at the Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City, United States. At a stunning height of 168.5 feet, Verrückt will stand taller than both – Niagara Falls, Canada and the Statue of Liberty, US. It has 264 steps to climb up and fall down with a top speed of 65.2 mph before being propelled up and over a 50 feet-high hill.  May 23 is the opening date – just in time for summer season.
